The Basics of Blackjack
Blackjack is one of the most popular casino games. In fact, it is one of the favorites of many expert gamblers. There is a high probability of winning in blackjack, yet it also has a high probability of losing. What makes the difference? The difference in winning and losing in blackjack does not lie on luck. Experts say it is because of strategy.
Before you come up with a strategy in playing blackjack, first, you have to learn and master the basics. Knowing blackjack tips and techniques will not work if you haven't mastered level one.
Here are the rules. Blackjack may also be known as 21. It is because, when playing blackjack, your cards should have a sum of 21. That is your primary aim. If you can't get a 21, you should, at least have a sum which is closer to 21 than that of the dealer. That is how you will win in blackjack.
In blackjack, you don't play against other players but only with the dealer. Unlike other card games, it is not important whether the dealer or other players see your card. The dealer has to follow the game rules strictly, which is why it doesn't make a difference if the blackjack dealer sees your cards.
In blackjack, your cards may be dealt face up or face down. This depends on the number of decks being used. For games that use six to eight decks, the cards are dealt face up. When the decks are fewer, usually your cards are dealt face down. The blackjack dealer's first card is dealt face down, though.
The values of the cards are easy to learn in blackjack. The suit of the cards doesn't matter in this game unlike in other card games. For the cards zero to nine, the values are the numbers indicated. For the cards ten, jack, queen and king, the values are all equal to ten. The ace may have a value of one or eleven. This will depend on the other cards on your hand.
In blackjack, the goal is to have a sum of 21 or closer to 21 than the dealer. However, a sum greater than 21 is called busting and will may a player lose regardless of the cards the dealer has.
Before playing blackjack in a casino, familiarize yourself first with these basic rules. You might want to practice by playing with a friend or searching for computer-based blackjack games.
